I’ve always drawn and painted. I never tried to make a living doing art, but did it for fun and relaxation. So did my parents, and some of my grandparents and great grandparents. I have paintings by many of them.
We sold the Bay Area software company I was working for in 2000, and moved to the Mendocino Coast, which became my ticket to practice art full time.
THE PAINTINGS
My paintings are mostly created using watercolors or ink, although some are created with different kinds of pencils. Most are landscapes and seascapes, but many are groups of trees and other plants in a garden or a forest setting. The sky and sea change colors and textures all the time, so landscapes around here are always fresh and new for me.
THE SCULPTURES
For many years I created small sculptures in metal, paper mache’, but then in 2004 started carving stone, working with ceramics and assemblage. It’s all fun!
OUR ART COMMUNITY
I love being part of this vibrant art community. According to a study by the Irvine Foundation, Mendocino County has more artists per capita than any of the other 57 counties in the State, so there are plenty of artists around here and we all inspire each other. I show my art regularly at the Artists’ Collective in Elk, the Dolphin and Discovery Galleries in Gualala, and irregularly at Think Visual in Point Arena and the WhiteCap in Anchor Bay.
